Courteous ambiance This large house is based on a house in the Voorstraat in Utrecht. The murals are taken from another house in Utrecht, on the Oudegracht. The murals representat the tale of the knight Gawain and his quest for the golden chessboard. The special division of the rooms is a novelty for the people in the fourteenth century. At the back of the house is a closed kitchen, with a secret toilet in the corner, which flows into a beer cellar under neath the house. The merchant’s bedroom can be entered by going up the impressive spiral staircase.
